The school was founded in 1939 shortly after completion of the houses at the western end of Speke. Originally it was a through school with boys and girls under separate Head Teachers.
In 1951 the schools were divided and the secondary age children joined what would later become Speke Comprehensive School. The Infant Department occupied the ground floor. The Junior Girls occupied one end of the building upstairs and the boys occupied the other end.
In the early 1950's the number of children in the school rose as high as 585 girls, 630 boys and 390 infants. With over 1600 children in the building, it was the largest school in Britain.
The three schools continued independently for 25 years until, in 1976, the Junior Schools were amalgamated to form one Junior Mixed School.
The Junior and Infant Schools were merged in September 2001 to create the school we now have - Stockton Wood Community Primary School.
Stockton Wood Primary School moved into a brand new purpose built school, on the old school site, in September 2005. The old building was demolished during that year and school sports pitches have now been established on the site.
A new period in the life of the school began!
